BIO FOR DIANA L.
DRIVER

Author Bio – Diana L.
Driver
Diana’s father was career Air Force and as a result
she spent her childhood living in different countries and traveling
throughout the world. She spent her teenage years in Austin, Texas before
moving to Houston, where she became one of the first women geophysicists
in the oil and gas business. Later, with the birth of her first child,
Diana decided to become a stay-at-home mother. Although her background is
science, she has always been interested in prehistory and history as well
- perhaps, because of her exposure to different cultures as a
child.
In 1989,
Diana became interested in Mesoamerican archaeology and throughout the
years followed the careers of Mayanists, in particular, the late Linda
Shele. In order to give Ninth Lord of the Night its realism,
Diana traveled to Guatemala to experience the magnificence of Tikal,
Guatemala. The details in the book are based on her own experiences, in
particular the doll’s head on the gearshift incident and the tarantula in
the bathroom.
Diana has always been interested in writing, but
never thought she was intelligent enough to actually be a novelist. One of
her favorite stories is how she felt she wasn’t smart enough to be a
writer – so she became a geophysicist instead! Now, she realizes that
intelligence isn’t the hallmark of writing; it’s dedication, perseverance,
determination, and the willingness to learn the
craft.
Diana
is founder and past president (2004, 2005) of The Final
Twist, Houston Chapter of the Sisters in Crime.
